Research Project: Implementing Sustainable Landscape Designs for Great Plains Bioenergy Supply Systems

Location: Soil, Water & Air Resources Research

Project Number: 5030-12000-015-005-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 1, 2016
End Date: Feb 28, 2021

Objective:
Facilitate implementation of a landscape design process for integrating cellulosic feedstock production into existing agricultural production systems within a feedstock supply shed.

Approach:
In collaboration with consultants and ARS collaborators at Akron and Ft. Collins, Colorado, field studies will be conducted in the Central and Southern Great Plains (KS, CO, OK, and TX) to quantify wind erosion and water conservation limits associated with sustainable feedstock production and harvest.
