Research Project: Immunity to Potato Cyst Nematodes

Location: Emerging Pests and Pathogens Research

Project Number: 8062-22000-022-012-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 1, 2016
End Date: Jun 30, 2021

Objective:
Use conserved nematode effector genes as probes to identify wild potato species with resistance to Globodera rostochiensis.

Approach:
1. Analyze Globodera nematode genome sequences to identify conserved effector genes. 2. Use conserved effectors to screen a list of wild potato accessions for a hypersensitive response. 3. Test the candidate wild potato accessions for resistance to G. rostochiensis.
