1. Develop primers specific for all the species of viruses that cause citrus leprosis. 2. Combine these primers into a multiplex conventional PCR assay. 3. Adapt the conventional multiplex assay into a real-time PCR assay.

A combination of massively paralell sequencing and conventional sequencing will be used to generate complete genomes for several leprosis viruses found in citrus. This information will be used to develop diagnostic assays for the viruses. The diagnostic assays will be combined into multiplex assays for the simultaneous detection of all viruses, and then converted into a quantitative assay for the same purpose.
