Research Project: Molecular and Genetic Characterization of Transcriptional Regulatory Program Underlying Seed Reserve Production

Location: Plant Genetics Research

Project Number: 5070-21000-042-02-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2016
End Date: Aug 31, 2018

Objective:
Molecularly and genetically characterize genes regulating seed reserve production in Arabidopsis.

Approach:
We identified a number of soybean genes potentially regulating seed protein and oil content. Expression vectors for two of the soybean genes will be constructed and transformed into Arabidopsis. Transgenic Arabidopsis will be produced and characterized to determine their functions in regulating oil and protein content. In addition, we will also molecularly and genetically characterize four Arabidopsis mutants.
