Research Project: Development of Biopesticides for Insect Control in High Tunnel Vegetable Production

Location: Biological Control of Pests Research

Project Number: 6066-22320-009-12-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 15, 2016
End Date: Sep 30, 2019

Objective:
Development of biological control methods for managing insect pests in high tunnel vegetable production system.

Approach:
1. Identification and development of insect sex pheromones and insect attractants for mating disruption and pest population monitoring, respectively. 2. Developing microbial pesticides by using entomopathogenic fungi, viruses or protozoans. 3. Improving the classical biological control (predators and parasitoids) by managing ants in HT tunnels.
