Research Project: Biology and Ecology of Psyllids and Their Associated Endosymbionts

Location: Temperate Tree Fruit and Vegetable Research

Project Number: 2092-22000-021-016-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 1, 2017
End Date: Nov 30, 2019

Objective:
Elucidate the biology and ecology of psyllids and their associated endosymbionts and develop management strategies for zebra chip disease of potato.

Approach:
Assess the biology and ecology of potato psyllid and other psyllids, and examine interactions among psyllids, host plants, and endosymbionts of psyllids and plants. Modern techniques to be used include polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays and biochemical analyses. Information from this study will help researchers and growers develop effective management strategies for zebra chip disease of potato.
