The Jornada Experimental Range (JER) through NMSU has been cooperating with BLM NM on many projects that include but have not been limited to providing technical and science based support on many initiatives. Jornada ARS has assisted the BLM to design and implement studies to monitor ecological and biological responses to landscape scale restoration practices, provide training to BLM specialists on monitoring and inventory methodologies, and design and develop a monitoring database repository for all monitoring data collected by BLM and BLM/Jornada ARS efforts.
Funding under this statement of work would be used to, but is not limited to: • support in the collection of short and long-term monitoring data within priority grazing allotments, • design and implement monitoring studies on landscape scale restoration practices, • design and implement biodiversity studies on landscape scale restoration activities, continue to provide training to BLM specialists/BLM contractors/others as identified on monitoring methodologies (for example, Restore NM monitoring, AIM studies, etc.) • continue to develop and improve on the monitoring database (DIMA), • assist with development and interpretation of ecological site descriptions, • assist in analyzing and interpreting existing data, and • continue with state mapping efforts in priority areas.
