Research Project: Indirect effects of biological control agents on native analogs and associated producers.

Location: Invasive Plant Research Laboratory

Project Number: 6032-22000-012-18-I
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Feb 15, 2016
End Date: Feb 14, 2020

Objective:
Assess utilization of the novel resource (biological control agents) by native parasitoids Assess the effects of the native parasitoid levels in the presence and absence of the biological control agents Assess the effects of parasitoid levels (either increased or decreased) on the native insect analogs of the biological control agents Assess the effects of parasitoid levels (either increased or decreased) on the larger food web (producers)

Approach:
Determine the effect of the presence of introduced biological control agents on native food webs through a combination of field and mesocosm studies. Study will be conducted in two environments (aquatic and upland) with two established biological control agents.
