Research Project: Genetic and Molecular Mechanisms of UVB-Dependent Hypocotyl Elongation in Cucumber

Location: Vegetable Crops Research

Project Number: 5090-21000-069-34-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Apr 1, 2017
End Date: Mar 31, 2020

Objective:
Develop transgenic cucumber plant for the long hypocotyl (LH1) gene.

Approach:
The LH1 candidate gene will be placed into a transformation vector for both overexpression and gene knockout and transformed into wild type cucumber genotypes. Positive transformants will be verified and selfed. T2 plants will be used for various experiments to study the candidate gene functions.
