Research Project: HLB/ACP Resistance Evaluation in Poncirus trifoliata Hybrids and Assessment of DNA Markers and Possibly Resistance Genes

Location: Subtropical Insects and Horticulture Research

Project Number: 6034-21000-018-006-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 11, 2016
End Date: Jan 10, 2021

Objective:
Evaluation of a field planting with an array of Poncirus hybrids and standard cultivars to ultimately identify which genes are associated for use in conventional and transgenic plant improvement.

Approach:
Assess replicated trial with 8 plants of each of numerous citranges (from a well-characterized mapping population), other poncirus hybrids and standard cultivars. Material will be at USDA/ARS Picos Farm where Huanglongbing (HLB) and Asian citrus psyllid (ACP) are rampant and will be screened in response to natural exposure.
