Research Project: Evaluation of Biochars from Sugarcane Residuals and Blends with Co-located Waste Sources

Location: Commodity Utilization Research

Project Number: 6054-41000-110-025-N
Project Type: Non-Funded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 3, 2015
End Date: Jul 31, 2019

Objective:
1. Investigate alternative uses for the biochar created as a value-added product from sugarcane residuals including the blending of other co-located waste sources. This would include lab scale adsorption and energy content studies. 2. Comparison studies with other biofuel sources to determine commercial viability for processing, blending, energy content, and preliminary market assessment. 3. Compile the data for the submission of a minimum of one peer reviewed publication.

Approach:
The objectives stated are an integral part of the project plan referenced above. This work will expedite the accomplishment of the goals stated in the plan with relation to the development of commercially-viable technologies or value added products from sugarcane residuals.
