Research Project: Improvement of Forb Seedling Establishment to Diversify Rangeland Revegetation Efforts in the Great Basin

Location: Forage and Range Research

Project Number: 2080-21000-014-036-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Aug 15, 2015
End Date: Sep 30, 2017

Objective:
Identify techniques that can be used to improve the establishment of important Great Basin forb species.

Approach:
Greenhouse and field studies will be conducted to determine if seedling establishment can be improved in important forb species native to the Great Basin. Possible techniques to be investigated include use of the Hollow Frame Fence System (HFFS) and N-Sulate fabric to extend the period for favorable seedling emergence. Seed pelleting techniques will also be examined to determine if seed dormancy issues can be overcome to allow successful seedling establishment of forbs native to rangelands of the Great Basin.
