Objective:
To evaluate candidate compounds for their CYP-450 inhibition efficacy in important disease vectors like mosquitoes, and identify novel compounds that synergize efficacy of pyrethroids in resistance populations of mosquitoes, sand flies, etc.

Approach:
ARS will acquire the basic knowledge of CYP-450 inhibitors against mosquitoes and bed bugs. This information will be used by both parties to jointly discover and develop chemicals for suppressing pyrethroid resistance in disease vectors. The Cooperator will provide molecular biology expertise and evaluate synergism of novel compounds against pyrethroid resistant insect populations.
