Develop databases for application of the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) model by NRCS. Develop approaches to assess and report risks and probabilities of occurrence of certain erosion events. Develop approaches to evaluate effects of projected climate change on soil erosion estimates.

Work together with ARS and NRCS staff on development and testing of databases (cropping/management, climatic, etc.) for successful application of the WEPP model by NRCS. Test ability of the WEPP model to simulate soil erosion at selected locations across the United States, and compare model predictions with those obtained from the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation version 2 (RUSLE2). Develop and document procedures to utilize available information on projected climate change on runoff and soil erosion predicted by WEPP, and supply this information to ARS programmer so that the approach can be integrated into online interfaces. Develop and document procedure to determine risk and probability of occurrence of erosion events, and supply this information to ARS programmer so that the procedure can be integrated into online WEPP interfaces. Provide appropriate technical documentation and publications on results of this effort.
