Develop a pipeline to produce competitive yielding herbicide resistant soybean varieties containing the high oleic/low linolenic acid trait in all US maturity groups. Research will be conducted to determine the most efficient combination of alleles necessary for the trait to be stable across environments and to incorporate new molecular selections for soybean maturity and seed composition traits.
1) Continuous development, selection and nomination of soybean lines to be used as recurrent parents for conversion to HOLL based on yield trials. 2) Yearly crosses made of an HOLL donor line to nominated parents followed by a dedicated backcrossing program in the winter nursery. 3) Utilize existing selection strategies to select highest yielding HOLL lines to target for variety release.
