Project Number: 6034-22320-001-45-R
Project Type: Reimbursable
Start Date: Oct 1, 2013
End Date: Jun 30, 2014
Identify small molecules that will specifically inhibit salivary sheath polymerization that can be commercialized as a foliar spray to prevent Asian citrus psyllid feeding on citrus and thus block transmission of the Citrus greening associated bacterium.
1. Finish deconvoluting the peptide libraries to ID specific peptides that block sheath formation in diet feeding assays. 2. Develop and use a bioassay focused on the enzyme involved in salivary sheath formation and identify small molecule inhibitors specific to this enzyme, 3. Test application strategies of small molecules as direct foliar applications.
