Project Number: 2092-21220-001-11-S
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Sep 4, 2013
End Date: Aug 31, 2014
Identify potential overwintering hosts of the potato psyllid in the Pacific Northwest (PNW). Establish if and when migration of the potato psyllid occurs.
Conduct survey along riparian areas in the Pacific Northwest (PNW) for the host plant bittersweet nightshade and other likely solanaceous hosts of the potato psyllid. Collect psyllids from these areas. Determine the level of infection of psyllids with Liberibacter solanacearum by PCR and identify the population affiliation of the psyllids by high resolution melting analysis. Selected live adult psyllids will be marked and released to measure movement of the psyllids. Disseminate information on psyllid numbers and locations to growers, fieldmen, and extension personnel.
