To provide support for an NSF-funded research project designed to determine whether reactivation of the Kalahari dunes of Botswana are likely to result in significantly increased dust emissions to the atmosphere.

The major component of the proposed research is three field campaigns to Botswana for the experiment outlined in the original proposal documents. A half-time technician will be supported for 2 years to provide assistance to a post-doctoral research associate under the direction of a USDA-ARS scientist.
