This effort will create a computational service in OMS that performs the same calculations as the current watershed hydrology tools, EFH-2, WinTR55 and WinTR20.
• Develop a new hydrology tool under the Object Modeling System (OMS) as a combination of existing tools to analyze flood hydrology. It will ultimately replace three existing applications used by NRCS: Engineering Field Handbook Chapter 2 (EFH-2), WinTR-55 Small Watershed Hydrology, and WinTR-20 Project Formulation Hydrology. • Reproduce the current functionality and results of these existing tools, while providing a unified computational service under OMS, which later can be integrated into the Conservation Delivery Streamlining Initiative (CDSI) to make the necessary hydrology information available for resource analysis and planning. • Test the new hydrology tool against data sets provided by ARS and NRCS. • Contribute to the improvement of OMS in collaboration with the OMS development and application team. • Work closely with the USDA-NRCS Information Technology Center and NRCS Hydraulic Engineers regarding databases available for model inputs and desired model outputs.
