Research Project: Drought Heat and Flood Tolerant Varieties for the Midwest and the South: Building on Success

Location: Soybean and Nitrogen Fixation Research

Project Number: 6070-21220-068-37-A
Project Type: General Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jan 1, 2014
End Date: Dec 31, 2016

Objective:
To develop high yielding drought and flood tolerant cultivars adapted to Missouri and other drought-prone U.S. environments.

Approach:
A broad range of soybean germplasm will be screened for drought, heat, and flood tolerance in the field and greenhouse. Genetics of tolerance will be ascertained through QTL mapping and gene cloning, resulting ultimately in development breeder-friendly DNA markers for marker assisted selection.
