Developing, Capacitance and Near Infrared spectroscopy methods in mapping of chemical constituents and determination of moisture content for rapid screening of biomass feed stocks in bio-fuel applications.
1. Based on the earlier work done by the ARS scientist, models will be developed and a design for a practical instrument would be developed. 2. Sensors that are suitable for use with the developed instrument for bio-fuels, depending on the probable moisture contents, sample types (solids or powders), variations due to sample structures, and measuring conditions, would be developed. 3. Calibrations will be done, and the possibility of developing a common standard calibration will be investigated. 4. Final tests would be conducted for assessing the accuracy and stability of the Instrument in both the laboratory and field conditions. 5. A successful instrument would be released for commercial manufacture.
