To develop a unified modeling framework for assessing the dependability of biomass supplies for use in the production of biofuels for the Navy.
A development-validation approach using recognized decision support tools such as the Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) and ALMANAC plant-growth models provides tools for accelerating the development of a computational platform that can be applied to solving real-world questions about determining the most sustainable options for producing advanced biofuels from biomass. The research design allows for rapid development of practical assessment tools that can be used by commercial entities such as HC&S, as well as other researchers and decision makers concerned with the sustainable production and dependable delivery of feedstocks biorefineries.
