1a. Objectives (from AD-416):
Identify seedling traits from different seed sources that increase profitability of seedling establishment.
1b. Approach (from AD-416):
The approach is to collect seed sources from multiple populations, including commercial cultivars and sow seeds and a subset of sites selected in the Great Basin. Populations will be screened for numerous root and shoot physiological and morphological traits.
3. Progress Report:
This project relates to objective 2 of the parent project, "Working with cheatgrass and medusahead, develop new ecological principles that contribute to the basis of EBIPM by investigating the potential interactions among management approach selection, site availability, species availability, and species performance during restoration of cheatgrass and medusahead-dominated rangeland. We are in the early stages of this project as the funding was established in April 2013. In the ensuing months, a post-doctoral associate was hired to conduct ongoing research and data analysis for this project. All research is on track according to timeline.
