Location: Southeast Watershed Research2013 Annual Report
1a. Objectives (from AD-416):
Establish research plantings on Cooperator leased property to facilitate watershed research on bioenergy crops.
1b. Approach (from AD-416):
Cooperator and ARS will work together to conduct a watershed study of a farm converted from conventional crops to bioenergy crops.
3. Progress Report:
This project contributes to Objective 2 of the above in-house CRIS: Quantify and assess the effects of agricultural conservation practices at multiple spatial and temporal scales in agricultural watersheds of the southeastern U.S. Bio-E-Crops LLC planted 19 ha (47 acres) of Miscanthus X giganteus material propagated from their ongoing Miscanthus commercial propagation program. The crop was planted and has been managed using techniques suitable for large scale commercial production of Miscanthus. This planting of Miscanthus forms the basis for watershed studies described in the parent research project.
