1a. Objectives (from AD-416):
The objective of this cooperative research is to develop a multi-scale, multiple-objective optimization framework for agricultural production, conservation, and policy assessment. The intent is to build off of past collaboration and support collaboration toward long-term research goals.
1b. Approach (from AD-416):
The focus of this collaboration will be to build economic and management data bases relevant to CEAP watersheds in the Upper Washita River Basin of Oklahoma and to calibrate the Nutrient Tracking Tool for these watersheds.
3. Progress Report:
This project was initiated in September 2012. A farm cluster analysis was conducted for Upper Washita River Basin hydrologic unit, based on the USDA-NASS 2007 Agricultural Census data. Planning was initiated for a Fort Cobb Reservoir Experimental Watershed workshop with producers and conservationists to gain information on preferences and perspectives on agricultural conservation and to develop improved understanding of producer management goals, strategies and practices. This information will be used in scenario development for a optimization decision-support tool for conservation placement.
