Research Project: ENHANCEMENT OF COLD TOLERANCE IN SORGHUM

Location: Plant Stress and Germplasm Development Research

2013 Annual Report

1a. Objectives (from AD-416):
To characterize selected germplasm lines of sorghum for response to cold stress at early season and at other specified stages of development.

1b. Approach (from AD-416):
Establish and conduct replicated screening of sorghum lines for disease reactions to various seedling pathogens of sorghum.

3. Progress Report:
Evaluation of the B623*HKZ RI lines response to seedling pathogen Phytium aphanidermatum indicated a wide range of resistance/susceptibility reactions was completed. Identification of 12 top cold-tolerant RI lines with resistance to Phytium aphanidermatum was accomplished.
