Location:2012 Annual Report
1a. Objectives (from AD-416):
Produce large stock of vaccine virus for lyophilization and evaluation of the viability and effectiveness of vaccines in eggs and chickens.
1b. Approach (from AD-416):
1. Large scale of production of vaccine viruses and evaluation of titers (months 1-3). 2. Evaulation of stability of lyophilized tablets (months 4-9). 3. Evaluation of final formulation capacity to generate an immune response in chickens (months 7-9). 4. Final report (month 9).
3. Progress Report:
This project is related to objective 3 of this in-house project: Develop vaccine strategies to effectively control Newcastle disease and stop disease outbreaks by developing vaccine platforms specifically designed to control low virulent and virulent Newcastle disease outbreaks. Objectives one and two were fully meet and objective three is ongoing. An optimum formulation for lyophilized tablets was found and the effect of time and temperature on the viability of the vaccine was determined. Experiments in animals to confirm the usefulness of the table as vaccines are planned.
