1a. Objectives (from AD-416)
Establish a scientifically defensible means of representing and modeling the effects of Clean Water Act-related stream-channel and stormwater management actions at a basin scale, and then to evaluate the cumulative basin-wide sensitivity to alternative management practices resulting from multiple permit applications and/or future landscape scenarios.

1b. Approach (from AD-416)
Approach: (1) Incorporate the ability to emulate different growth scenarios, (2) incorporate tools and parameter sets that will support the modeling of different best management practices, (3) provide a complete spatial database for the entire San Pedro River basin and (4) provide training to EPA Regional and ORD personnel on use of the modified AGWA tool. 3. Progress Report
In 2011 we worked with our Univ. of Arizona (UA) collaborators on this project to put on an AGWA (Automated Geospatial Watershed Assessment) training session. 16 participants from EPA, Region 9 based in San Francisco attended the training session in the fall of 2010. As part of the training, a needs assessment was conducted to find out how AGWA might be improved to better address trainee needs for the resource management decisions they are responsible for. The ARS-US is now in the process of developing a subset of the requested improvements to be tested on the San Pedro watershed which originates in Sonora, Mexico and extends into southeastern Arizona. The project was managed through frequent calls to the EPA project manager, conference calls with the team working on the project and frequent e-mail exchanges.
