Location: Range Management Research2012 Annual Report
1a. Objectives (from AD-416):
To support AIM through the developmnet, testing, and implementation of standardized Indicators, Measurements, and Sampling Protocols.
1b. Approach (from AD-416):
1) Development of a flexible sampling framework that maximizes the amount of data collected by the Bureau for a particular objective that can be combined to address other questions and/or at other scales (i.e., scalable, flexible). 2) Initial implementation and testing in 5 test areas (representing at least 3 of the following: herd management (HMAs), energy development, NLCS, restoration initiatives, RMP revision), in cooperation with local BLM offices. 3) Documentation and training.
3. Progress Report:
In 2012, we supported implementation of recommendations for indicators and methods, and publication of these methods by Bureau of Land Management. We supported implementation of a scalable sampling framework at selected locations throughout the western United States, and initiated work on a project in Alaska. E-mail correspondence, telephone communication and on-site meetings supported collaboration efforts with other agencies including NRCS, NPS and USFS.
