1a. Objectives (from AD-416)
To support AIM through the developmnet, testing, and implementation of standardized Indicators, Measurements, and Sampling Protocols.
1b. Approach (from AD-416)
1) Development of a flexible sampling framework that maximizes the amount of data collected by the Bureau for a particular objective that can be combined to address other questions and/or at other scales (i.e., scalable, flexible). 2) Initial implementation and testing in 5 test areas (representing at least 3 of the following: herd management (HMAs), energy development, NLCS, restoration initiatives, RMP revision), in cooperation with local BLM offices. 3) Documentation and training.
3. Progress Report
In 2011, we completed recommendations for indicators and methods, which were subsequently published in a BLM-initiated publication. We revised recommended indicators and methods, and developed a draft strategy for a scalable sampling framework. We also initiated testing and initial implementation in three test areas. E-mail correspondence, telephone communication and on-site meetings supported collaboration efforts with BLM and other agencies, including NRCS, NPS and USFS.
