1a. Objectives (from AD-416)
The objective of this research will be to evaluate the oat association mapping population for resistance to barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV).
1b. Approach (from AD-416)
Hill plots for all 685 oat association mapping lines will be grown in replicated field plots along with spring and winter checks. The hill plots will be inoculated at the appropriate times with virus containing aphids. Plants within hills will be rated for BYDV symptoms at various times and data will be recorded. The data will be upload and checked prior to association analyses.Documents Grant with University of IL-Urbana.
3. Progress Report
The 685 oat population developed under the USDA NIFA AFRI agreement 5366-21000-028-11R and North American Millers’ Association trust agreement 5366-21000-028-18T was planted in Urbana-Champlain, IL. The population was infected with barley yellow dwarf virus using aphids. Disease ratings were collected for all 685 lines. Communication and exchange of work has taken place via meetings. The project is funded through a reimbursable agreement with USDA NIFA AFRI and North American Millers’ Association trust.
