Location: Obesity and Metabolism Research2010 Annual Report
1a. Objectives (from AD-416)
To determine how omega-3 fatty acid supplementation alters the concentration and distribution of oxygenated PUFA metabolites in lipoprotein particles.
1b. Approach (from AD-416)
A 4-week human feeding study will be conducted using pharmaceutical grade omega-3 fatty acids, collecting fasted plasma, isolating lipoproteins, and assessing the impact on lipid and oxylipid profiles within the esterified lipid pool. Documents Trust with Sanford Research/USD. Log 40125.
3. Progress Report
During the reporting period, SRI personnel have been trained in sample preparation techniques and the data has been acquired for 390 samples, and preliminary data analysis has been completed and transmitted to the collaborating PI. Pilot data has formed the basis for a presentation at an international conference, and a subsequent manuscript is in preparation. The ADODR monitors progress by conducting bi-weekly team meetings on site and coordinates efforts with the collaborating PI through e-mails and teleconferences as required.
