Research Project: APPLICATION OF BIOTECHNOLOGY TO CONTROL THE SCN

Location: Soybean Genomics & Improvement Laboratory

Project Number: 8042-21220-232-06-R
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Oct 1, 2009
End Date: Dec 1, 2013

Objective:
To control the soybean cyst nematode using new approaches including molecular biology and transformation techniques.

Approach:
DNA vectors will be designed for transformation of DNA fragments into soybean to control the soybean cyst nematode (SCN) so that it will not grow or will not complete its life cycle. The transformed soybean roots will be tested to determine the effect of the DNA fragments on SCN vigor.
