Location: Crop Production and Protection
Project Number: 0206-22000-002-01-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement
Start Date: Apr 1, 2009
End Date: Mar 31, 2014
Identify natural enemies of insect pests as identified by stakeholders. New natural enemies are expected to be discovered for shipment to USDA or other collaborators.
Conduct field trips to relevant regions of Australasia, eastern Asia, and southern Asia. Collections of potential natural enemies of target insects will be made and the specimens submitted to the following process: identification, colonization, evaluation, and shipment to collaborators. This process might be expanded or contracted at any point. For example, detailed genetic studies at a subspecific level may be desirable in order to match natural enemies with particular populations of the target host. Also, a collaborator may prefer to do biological work (colonization, evaluation) on its own.
