1a. Objectives (from AD-416)
To identify new molecular markers.

1b. Approach (from AD-416)
Sequence cDNA libraries from diverse U.S. germplasm to identify new SNP alleles. Using bioinformatics identify useful SNP alleles. Using the allumnia SNP platform over 4000 SNPs will be mapped in multiple CAP mapping populations. Documents Reimbursable with Kansas State Universtiy (AFRI). Log 38844.

3. Progress Report
Have sequenced 4 wheat cultivars; McNeal, Thatcher, Louise, Penewawa, using Roche 454 sequencing technology the EST from this sequence will contribute to the next SNP build for marker discovery. Coordinated the PNW SNP screening efforts which will genotype each wheat sample with 9,000 newly developed SNP derived from the sequencing of relevant germplasm; have collected 1,536 wheat germplasm which included 4 mapping populations from all of the breeding programs in the PNW, have extracted DNA and will submit for sampling in October. Methods of monitoring for this project have included multiple phone conversations and emails with KSU regarding sequencing efforts results and bioinformatics for new SNP, have also had multiple conversations also with USDA-ARS scientists regarding the SNP genotyping efforts.
