2010 Annual Report


1a. Objectives (from AD-416)
The objective of this cooperative research project is to develop industrially useful oilseed crops. The expected product will contain hydroxy fatty acids.


1b. Approach (from AD-416)
Apply biotechnological and biocatalytic approaches to modify oil composition of high oleic oils provided by Purpan. Documents Non Funded Cooperative Reseach Project with Ecole d-Ingenieurs de Purpan.


3. Progress Report
Experiments were carried out by an exchange visit by a Food Science student from Purpan, who carried out enzymatic experiments to enhance the value and utility of co-products derived from the castor crop. The agreement was established in support of Objective 3 of the in-house project, the goal being to identify means to enrich ricinoleate content. Monitoring: The agreement was monitored by monthly emails. It included an exchange visit by a Purpan student that ended in October, 2009 with daily discussions on research progress.
