1890s Faculty Research Sabbatical Program
About the 1890s Faculty Research Sabbatical Program
Since 2015, the USDA Agricultural Research Service has offered a Faculty Research Sabbatical Program for faculty at 1890 land-grant universities (LGUs). During the Federal fiscal year (FY) 2019, the program will provide up to $125,000 to support expenses (including salary, housing allowance, travel, and research costs) for a research collaboration between an ARS scientist and 1890 LGU faculty member. As part of the collaboration, the 1890 LGU faculty member will complete a 6- to 12-month residency at an ARS laboratory to conduct cooperative research of mutual interest with ARS.
Eligibility is currently limited to career-track 1890 faculty employed for a minimum of five years in his/her current position. Applications must be co-authored by the 1890 LGU faculty member and ARS scientist serving as collaborator and host mentor. Each 1890 LGU may submit no more than three applications per year and is eligible to receive only one award per year.
