Mission

The mission of the Southern Plains Range Research Station is to develop and transfer sustainable forage and livestock production practices based on fundamental ecological principles and to breed, select and release improved plant germplasm to enhance Southern Plains rangeland and pasture land.

ARS Field Station Lake Dam Rehabilitation

Notice of Availability

An Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared for the proposed dam and spillway rehabilitation project at Field Station Lake, which is located on the property of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Southern Plains Range Research Station (SPRRS) in Woodward, Oklahoma.   

Document Review Period

The EA will assist ARS in complying with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The proposed improvements are described in the Final EA document. The Document Review Period is December 27, 2019 through January 27, 2020.

Beginning December 27, the Final EA and the Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) documents for the Field Station Lake Dam Rehabilitation Project, prepared by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Oklahoma Natural Resources Conservation Services (NRCS), will be available for viewing on this webpage, under the Dam Rehabilitation tab located at the top of this page. It is also available for public inspection at the ARS Field Station, 2000 18th Street, Woodward, Oklahoma 73801.
