Jill A. Miller
ARS SERVICE SINCE APRIL 2000
Jill began her USDA-ARS career in April 2000 with TEAM Leafy Spurge, an award winning ARS integrated pest management research and demonstration project. Headquartered at the Northern Plains Agricultural Research Laboratory in Sidney, MT, TEAM Leafy Spurge won the ARS Technology Transfer Award for Outstanding effort in 2002. In November 2002 she accepted the secretarial position for NPARL's Pest Management Research Unit. The position has since evolved into one serving both units at the Sidney lab. Jill brings prior experience as a travel agent, airline customer service manager and bank account transaction representative to her ARS post. She is an alumni of Northern Plains Area Secretarial Advisory Council where she held responsibilities such as public relations and updating the web site until the three-year term expired in October 2007. In April 2007, she received the Northern Plains Area 2006 Award of Excellence in Secretarial Support.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Hired under the Pest Management Research Unit, my duties consist of front office organization; receiving visitors and phone calls; knowledge of agency P&P's/Bulletins; automated clerical duties involving time and attendance; travel arrangements (domestic, foreign, and relocation) and passport tracking; research project information (CRIS projects, incoming/outgoing agreements, manuscript publications, annual reports, post-doc requests, limited assistance with ARMPS); micro-purchasing with credit card and check writing capabilities and IAS requisitions and receiving; backup to the AO for personnel processing/Human Resources, LincPass credentials and foreign nationals; backup to the Information Specialist for 3 location web sites; backup to the Safety Officer for OWCP; and administrative support to 36 permanent location staff.
