Educational Background

B.A. History, AmherstCollege, Amherst, MA, 1966.

B.S. Biology, University of Washington, Seattle, 1973.

M.S. Plant Pathology, WashingtonStateUniversity, Pullman, 1975.

Ph.D. Agronomy, University of Wisconsin, Madison, 1978.

Research Objectives

Serves as Lead Scientist of the Sustainable Agricultural Systems Lab Weed Ecology Project and contributes to the Farming Systems Project. Conducts basic and applied research to develop sustainable cropping systems with an emphasis on integrated weed management systems and the provision of multiple ecological services through cover crop management. Current research focuses on development of reduced tillage management systems for organic and sustainable agriculture as well as basic understanding of the interactions between cover crop residue, the soil environment, and weed-crop competitive relationships.
