Research Interests:

Regulatory (US EPA) and basic research in developing analytical methodologies for the determination of pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables.

Aims:

Provide growers with new chemical tools to address emerging pests by contributing to research studies which result in new uses on pesticide registration labels.

Background:

I began my analytical chemistry career in a veterinary toxicology laboratory.  After moving to USDA, I worked on the plant/chemical/insect interactions in a chemical ecology lab.  I later transitioned to the IR-4 program and have been working on plant residues for over 20 years.

Approach:

The IR-4 laboratory employs state of the art analytical equipment to detect chemical residues in fruits and vegetables.  Instrumentation includes, but is not limited to: gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, and mass spectrometry.

Laboratory Personnel:

Anne Kenny Chapman, Biological Science Technician

Song Jarman, Physical Science Technician

Faradeh Rehfield, Agricultural Science Technician
