COOPERATORS' PROTOCOLS FOR HARLEQUIN BUG TRAP PLANTS: Maryland // Virginia

Happy May!
We have first reports of harlequin bug adults in Maryland and Virginia.
Ruth, our garden leader on the 5000 block of York Rd in Baltimore, snagged the first adult female harlequin bug off of her trap plant. Take a look at her picture: Baltimore Bug in a Bag. Great work, Ruth!

Central Libary in Arlington has caught adults as follows:

Thus far 6 sites in northern Virginia, and 10 in Maryland, have been set up with SUPER TRAP PLANTS.

You should now be reporting results twice a week.  Thanks!

Call the Harlequin Hotline (301) 892-6797 and report the number of bugs (there will only be adults for the first few weeks)collected on trap plants (noting plant number), and any other observations you make. Remember, save the bugs (labeled with date and plant number) for us to collect later.  We'll input your data, and share it with you and other cooperators.
