Goals/purpose:
The Long-Term Agroecosystem Research (LTAR) network comprises 19 research locations across the United States dedicated to advancing the sustainable intensification of agriculture. The network's primary goal is to discover strategies that boost agricultural productivity while simultaneously enhancing environmental health and rural prosperity.

A key feature of this effort is the LTAR Common Experiment, which compares standard practices with aspirational management techniques to evaluate their impacts on ecosystem services. By leveraging extensive long-term data and collaborating with stakeholders, the network delivers critical scientific insights. These insights are essential for building agricultural systems that are resilient to climate change, economically viable, and capable of meeting future food demands.
