Soil Science Lab

The Great Basin Rangelands Research Unit Soils Laboratory is a complete lab to characterize soil physical and chemical properties. The lab is specifically set up to perform rapid analyses of soil biological and chemical attributes that can change with storage. We often perform analyses the same day as samples are collected from the field or greenhouse. Major areas of research include plant-soil relationships of invasive weeds, understanding how perennial grasses suppress annual weeds, and genesis and morphology of Great Basin soils.
