On January 8, Soil Scientist David Tarkalson, ARS Northwest Irrigation and Soils Research Laboratory, Kimberly, ID, presented research information assessing the use of strip tillage and phosphorus and nitrogen management in sugarbeet production at the University of Idaho Sugarbeet Conference held in Twin Falls, ID. The purpose of the conference was to present research based information to sugarbeet producers and industry personnel.

Dr. Jim Ippolito, Research Soil Scientist with the Northwest Irrigation and Soils Research Laboratory, presented a seminar on salt management in waters and soils on January 11, 2010, at the Far West Agribusiness Association Winter Conference in Jackpot, NV.

Dr. Bradley King, Research Agricultural Engineer at the Northwest Irrigation and Soils Research laboratory, presented information on "Irrigation Management of Bed-Planted Potatoes" at the Far West Agribusiness Association Idaho Winter Conference held January 11-13, 2010, in Jackpot, NV. The Conference is attended by agriculture consultants and agribusiness representatives from Idaho, Nevada and Utah.

On January 28, 2010, Carl Strausbaugh, ARS research plant pathologist with the USDA-ARS Northwest Irrigation and Soils Research Laboratory in Kimberly, ID, hosted a tour in Paul, ID. The purpose of the tour was to present research associated with storage and disease management in sugarbeet to growers, industry personnel, and scientists. The meeting allowed for technology transfer of recent research results ultimately leading to better storage and disease control in sugarbeet.
