Directions to WHNRC

Thank you for participating in our nutrition research. The USDA, ARS Western Human Nutrition Research Center (WHNRC) is on the University of California, Davis campus in the Health Sciences Complex.

When you arrive, enter through the main entrance next to the front parking lot. In the lobby, go to the public counter on your left (Human Studies Unit) and let a staff member know you are here for a study visit.

 

Driving

From Interstate 80:

Take Highway 113 north toward Woodland. Take the Hutchison Road exit and turn right onto Hutchison Road. At the stoplight, turn right onto Health Sciences Drive. At the stop sign, stay in the right-hand turning lane and turn right onto West Health Sciences Drive. Shortly after the intersection, turn left into the WHNRC parking lot.

From the Russell Boulevard / La Rue Road intersection:

Head south on La Rue Road, then turn right onto Hutchison Road. At the next stoplight, turn left onto Health Sciences Drive. At the stop sign, stay in the right-hand turning lane and turn right onto West Health Sciences Drive. Shortly after the intersection, turn left into the WHNRC parking lot.

Parking: Park in the front lot, then enter the building and visit the public counter on your left (Human Studies Unit). We will give you a parking permit to place on your dashboard.

 

Biking

There are two bike routes to WHNRC from the main UC Davis campus. For both, lock your bike at the stands in front of the building (facing West Health Sciences Drive), then enter and check in at the public counter on your left (Human Studies Unit).

Route 1:

  1. On Hutchison Drive near Highway 113, turn left at the stoplight. Stay in the bike lane and cross West Health Sciences Drive.
  2. Continue until you pass the front of the Genome Building on your right. Turn right onto the bike path/walkway. You will see Tupper Hall and Parking Lot 53 on your left.
  3. WHNRC will be on your right. Walk around to the front of the building, which faces West Health Sciences Drive, where you will find the bike stands.

Route 2:

  1. Head to the Dairy Cattle Facility area by way of La Rue Road, Dairy Road, or the bike path coming from the Tercero Dining complex.
  2. Cross La Rue Road onto the bike path/tunnel between the Schaal Aquatic Center and Aggie Stadium.
  3. Stay on the path past Parking Lot 56. Continue until you see Tupper Hall on your left and the Genome Building on your right.
  4. Pass the Genome Building and you will see Parking Lot 53 on your left. WHNRC will be on your right, facing West Health Sciences Drive.

 

Bus Transportation

Unitrans: The D Line stops near WHNRC in the Health Sciences District. Outbound, it stops at Hutchison and Health Sciences Drive. Cross at the light and walk along Health Sciences Drive to the GBSF building. Inbound, the stop is directly in front of the GBSF building. WHNRC is behind GBSF, so walk around to the main entrance on West Health Sciences Drive. For schedules, call (530) 752-2877 or visit unitrans.ucdavis.edu.

UC Davis / UC Davis Health Shuttle: A shuttle runs between UC Davis Health and the UC Davis campus. The nearest stop to WHNRC is at Health Sciences Drive and Lot 56. From the stop, walk past the GBSF building on your right, then past Tupper Hall and Parking Lot 53 on your left. WHNRC will be on your right, facing West Health Sciences Drive. Yolobus: Most lines serving UC Davis stop at the Memorial Union. Route 42 connects Woodland, Davis, and UC Davis and stops at La Rue and Hutchison, near WHNRC. For schedules, call (530) 666-2877 or visit yolobus.com.
