REE Undersecretary Woteki, ARS, and Other USG Meet with World Food Center to Discuss China Food Safety and Regulation

REE Undersecretary Cathy Woteki, Eileen Thacker, Office of National Programs (ONP), and Marcella Witting, Office of International Research Programs (OIRP) joined other USG officials to discuss food safety research and regulatory activities in China. The meeting was also be attended by representatives of the World Food Center (WFC) at UC Davis. The WFC recently signed an agreement with a Chinese university to establish the Joint U.S.-China Research Center for Food Safety. The purpose of the meeting was for the WFC to brief the USG agencies on its plans for research and regulatory activities in China, and to discuss the current state of food safety in China.
