October 17, 2014. Jennifer Woodward-Greene, ARS Office of International Research Programs (OIRP) in cooperation with the US Forest Service- International Programs, hosted 8 international scientists at ARS headquarters and the Northeast Area Beltsville Agricultural Research Center (BARC). The researchers are working in ARS Laboratories across the US. The International Visitor's Program offers 'Educational and Cultural Excursions' designed to meet USDA mission goals and the Department of State J-1 visa program requirements and objectives, which include learning about host organizations, the United States, and American culture. The visit provided a unique avenue for international visiting scientists hosted by USDA to network with each other, explore the cultural sights of DC, and connect their research contributions to the greater mission and identity of the agency. The scientists hail from Brazil, China, India, and Tunisia, and at the time of the visit, were working in ARS Labs in Peoria IL, Bushland TX, Oxford MS, Newark DE, and Beltsville MD.
