Caption for March 2014 Agricultural Research magazine article, "Cleaning Honeycombs With Ozone." Worker bees remove the mummified remains of larvae infected by the chalkbrood fungus, Ascosphaera apis. ARS scientists have found that fumigating combs with ozone can destroy spores of this pathogen.
