On October 7, 2015, ARS’ 2014 Hall of Fame winner, Dr. Hyun Lillehoj was honored at the 14th annual Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medals awards gala in Washington, D.C.  Dr. Lillehoj was presented with a Career Achievement Medal for her for groundbreaking scientific discoveries for strategies to improve poultry health. Secretary Vilsack and ARS Administrator Chavonda Jacobs-Young attended the gala to recognize and celebrate Dr. Lillehoj’s scientific career achievement.  She has become an international authority on cutting-edge approaches to keeping farm animals healthy, particularly chickens. Her research focuses on reducing the need for antibiotics and other veterinary drugs to control various avian diseases.
